Cricket: ODI Australian team with seven new players, including new captain, earthquake West Indies

Alex Carey has unveiled a captaincy as a manager as he saved his Australian team before Mitch Starc and Josh Hazlewood shook the West Indies in a one-day opening match in Barbados.

Bold's selection calls for a pre-match match to produce an Australian team consisting of seven players from the final ODI last December, including the first three players - Josh Philippe, Ben McDermott and Wes Agar - to go green and gold at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Matthew Wade played his first ODI in four years with West Australian slugger Ashton Turner in his first 50-game over Australia in 18 months.

It took Carey, who made 67 appearances as he took over the captaincy from injured Aaron Finch, to set up a 104-run stand with Turner to get the tourists 9-252 behind.

Then Starc, the most experienced player on the new side, started with the first wicket ball that started the fall of the West Indian.

The left-hander netted three wickets in his first four overs, and his longtime teammate, Josh Hazlewood, who took three on the home side played 6-23.

Hazelwood had an unbeaten 3-3 run from four overs as the Australians put their T20 series behind them to embarrass the locals.

Australian swimmer Agar was shown his cap in a pre-match match by Brother Ashton, who was left out of the team that looked new in more than 20,000 non-playing ODI games.

With the exception of Finch and the ordinary Davis Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis absent from the tour, coach Justin Langer turned to the next generation.

Ashton Agar said it was an “outgoing” feeling when he introduced his brother, Wes, to the national veil.

It's hard to put that in words. Proud I think, you are really proud, Ashton Agar said at cricket.com.

“It's no secret that I love her so much, we're a very close family, and you just want to see your people do well. It was a wonderful moment and I will appreciate that forever. ”

Australia have not called up three players in an international match since 2018 when Aaron Finch, Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head all played their first test in Dubai.

The last time three players made their ODI in the same game almost a decade ago, was 2012-13, when Finch, Phil Hughes and Usman Khawaja played against Sri Lanka.

In the absence of captain and open game Finch, Philippe and McDermott opened the innings at Kensington Oval and set up 51 runs before the wickets began to fall regularly.

Marsh was out after arranging the ball down the side of the leg to keeper Nicholas Pooran.

A major West Indian appeal was overturned by pumping Joel Wilson, but when the bowling alley went into rehab, Marsh began to walk away, knowing he was out, and he was already on the border when the dismissal was confirmed.

Carey came in with his team 3-99 and, along with Turner, put on a 104 co-op that included a brief rainstorm.

The captain was out of the 45th over, and Turner could not have continued with it, out with 49, out of 45 balls, and the tailenders did not go well.

Wade did just three times after the run-off time as West Indian spinner boom Hayden Walsh Jr was making a hat-trick, he never got it. But he took 5-39 to close out the Australian innings.

Australia lost the T20 series against the West Indies 4-1 and will play three ODIs.
