Most Recommended Store Day: From Foo Fighters ’Faux Disco to Donna Summer Thing Real
Do you remember when Robert Johnson was so different from anyone needed? Close and reflect on those innocent days as you line up this weekend in the second half of Records Day 2021, which was split into two parts this summer to keep the crowds down.
As anyone who attended the first two "drops" on June 12 can tell you, that didn't seem to be the result. Morning lineups seem to be longer than ever, and many of the specialty releases are sold in their limited edition faster than ever before, as vinyl enthusiasts treat their long-term case-itis with a sales pitch. The July 17 wrap-up lines may be shorter than in June, as there are fewer releases in the downturn - more than 160 newly created LPs (with CD tokens or a few cassettes) in the US, and nothing from the current superstar like Lady Gaga for the last time.
Don’t rely on any tags with interest, however, with the release list that runs the gamut from Foo Fighters to Donna Summer. In fact, that’s not a trivial matter: Dave Grohl and the company treat this Record Day as Halloween and dress like Dee Gees, a disco-rock band. If you don’t find this RSD holiday to be a joke, however, you can get serious about hahah waxx from Gorillaz, Aretha Franklin, John Prine, Beastie Boys, The Future, Pearl Jam, Jxdn, Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, Lou Reed , Richard Pryor, Ramones, CSNY, Amy Winehouse and our favorite permanent group, Various Artists.
