Best Bet on Open Championship Round 2: Buy Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas to Make Moves
149th Open Championship at Royal St. George started out much easier than expected on Thursday morning as soft conditions made the lesson visible during the tea hours in the morning. Several players would have jumped into the lower rounds of Par 70 as the first wave played the course hitting just 0.23 per par, while playing almost half-stroke in the afternoon.
Louis Oosthuizen took advantage of his first time as he shot 64 bogey-frees to take one injection with 18 holes. The South African wants to win his second major job this week, but he certainly has a company after the first round as Jordan Spieth and Brian Harman have submitted less than five rounds to start the Open Championship. The five-man team will kick off the second round on Friday with two guns behind the leaders, including Webb Simpson, who shot the best round in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, we do not have any data strokes this week as we do not have a link to this tournament, so I will try to use more traditional data in a better way to bet after each round. The weather will continue to be the key all week, but the decision on whether to water the course can be equally important. The fairways and greens were soft by Open levels in the opening session, and seemed to be firmer in the afternoon. If the course is allowed to dry out, conditions will be difficult, but that still has to be harvested for tea time on Friday morning.
