Police say three people were injured in the shooting outside Nationals Park where players and fans were playing during the match.
Three people were injured in a shooting that took place on Saturday night outside Nationals Park in Washington, DC, sending baseball fans and players to the wreckage during the game, police said.
A fan outside the stadium was one of three people injured, according to Ashan Benedict, deputy chief of police at the DC Metro Police Department.
CNN reporters inside the stadium reported hearing a huge explosion during the bottom of the 6th inning in a match between the Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres.
Fans fled their seats looking for shelter after hearing gunshots. Benedict said in the end there was no threat to people inside the stadium.
"I want to reassure the public that at the time of the incident there were no people inside the stadium who attended the game by any accident. This is not a shooting incident and is not being investigated. Everything happened outside the stadium," he said.
