The founder of the Amazon spaceflight founder company will move people to space for the first time on Tuesday
One week, another millionaire with a rocket company going into space.
Last week, Richard Branson flew his astronaut wings on a plane from Virgin Galactic, a company he founded 14 years ago, to a higher altitude more than 50 miles above the New Mexico sky.
On Tuesday, Jeff Bezos will be the richest man in the universe, who will tie in a capsule built by his rocket company, Blue Origin, and explode heavily, up to 62 miles above West Texas.
Blue Origin aims to launch the rocket at 9 a.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, July 20. The company will begin covering the launch of the show at 7:30 a.m. on its YouTube channel. The day coincides with the 52nd anniversary of the arrival of the month of Apollo 11.
New Shepard, the Blue Origin spacecraft, is named after Alan Shepard, the first American space shuttle. It contains a booster and a capsule on top, where passengers will be present.
Unlike the Virgin Galactic spacecraft, the New Shepard is above the traditional rocket, standing upright. Once the booster has used its propellant - liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen - the capsule attaches to the booster.
Both pieces continue to move upwards, over the 62-mile border is often considered the beginning of outer space. At this stage of the journey, passengers will pull out a hook and float around the capsule, feeling for about four minutes of free fall and seeing views of the Earth and the darkness of the area from the large windows of the capsule.
