'The Talk' co-host Elaine Welteroth comforts Sharon Osbourne after melting in the air: noise
The reporter revealed that the producers instructed him to perform Osbourne
Elaine Welteroth who participated in "The Talk" comforted Sharon Osbourne after the 68-year-old boy faced his support for Piers Morgan during the afternoon episode.
Back in March, Morgan left his television show after criticizing his comments about Meghan Markle, which some take as racist. Osbourne dismissed a tweet in support of Morgan, which drew back.
In the March episode of "The View," Osbourne spoke of his support for Morgan, 56, who insisted he did not share his views, but supported his right to express his own.
The conversation began with a heated exchange and eventually led to Osbourne's exit from the game. "They asked me to ask that question. I said," No, I'm not going to ask that question, "he explained." I said, 'Wait, what's the point of this conversation? Because this can go left very quickly. ... I said to them, 'This is going to be a train wreck. '"
He added: "Sharon I'm so sorry it went the way it did."
In the noise allegedly recorded by a hot mic, Osbourne was heard crying and saying that being forced to "defend himself" made him "look guilty."
Welteroth said he had been told Osbourne would comment on his support for Piers and was asked if he had anything to say on the matter. He says he refused.
"I just want you to know, Sharon, [co-host] Sheryl [Underwood] loves you and respects you very much and has a back to back," Welteroth continued. "He was not trying to attack you and I understand you and if you have a night… troll f - king attacks you online, that puts you in a position where you have to defend yourself."
The reporter also emphasized that Underwood, 57, was Osbourne's "friend".
