Conor McGregor is expected to face Dustin Poirier in a three-match fight over UFC 264 on Saturday, July 10 (7/10/2021).
For a leading MMA fighter, it’s a chance to be rescued after Poirier beat him in the 2nd round of TKO at UFC 257, and the victory he needed if he wanted another shot at UFC’s Lightweight, against new champion Charles Oliveira.
"I'm going to send this electric shock to his body and that's all," McGregor told Sportskeeda about the war to be held in the ruling war and trilogy at UFC 264.
Conor McGregor?
Conor McGregor, 31, is an Irish musician who has been involved in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, having competed in welterweight, lightweight and featherweight classes. He has been signed with the UFC since 2013, but his professional MMA career dates back to 2008, when he first appeared on the Irish Cage of Truth promotion.
His nickname is “He is famous,” and he has a few things to gain to support the title, including holding the record for the fastest wins in history against the UFC title - 13 seconds in the first round against Jose Aldo. He was the first UFC champion to hold two belts at the same time.
He was the highest paid athlete in 2020, and is the biggest drawer in MMA history, representing 5 of the top 6 UFC PPVs.
His fighting style is a unique combination of Capoeira, boxing, Taekwondo and more.
fight record?
Currently, McGregor is the # 5 Lightweight champion, with a career record of 22-5-0. He has not lost in 15 straight fights between 2011 and 2015, and has made headlines for his last nine events.
The 5'8 ″, 155-pound fighter has claimed two UFC titles, but both Featherweight and Lightweight belts were later stripped of him due to non-performance in the appropriate categories. He has 19 wins by knocking.
His recent record has somewhat improved, winning just 3 of the last 6 fights. Even so, he is still considered one of the most influential people in the lightweight division and has never lost two wins in a row.
What about Dustin Poirier?
About 7 years ago, McGregor started his fight with Dustin Poirier with a TKO in the first round at UFC 178. Then in January of this year, Poirier retaliated against UFC 257, winning his own TKO Round 2 fight against McGregor.
Poirier has a chance to put the first loss back on McGregor's record for a victory in UFC 264, but McGregor is full of confidence.
"he's dead," McGregor said of Poirier in an interview with news.com.au.
"Just do what I've been doing, set hours in the gym for me to use," McGregor said. “It's not like I didn't take him out in the first and second rounds. He was out on foot in both rounds. You know what I mean? I pulled him out in sixty seconds for the first time. I had kicked him in the legs in both rounds. I knocked him out several times in the first round. ”
